Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, Peter Wilson MBE DL Presents Award to the Community of Hunstanton

At the Town Council meeting held in Hunstanton Town Hall on 24th November, the Mayor of Hunstanton, Cllr Adrian Winnington, was honoured to welcome the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, Peter Wilson MBE DL, who had attended to present the special memorial plaque commissioned by Lady Dannatt, Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Norfolk, to commemorate the resilience of Hunstanton's community during the time of the pandemic.

To accept the award on behalf of the Community the Mayor asked Smithdon High School's Head Girl, Caitlin Wagg, and Head Boy, Theophilus Bazeley-Smith, and Mark Williamson, Vice-chairman of Hunstanton Round Table, to join him.

The plaque has been awarded to Hunstanton's community as a whole for pulling together in the challenging times of the Covid pandemic and it will be placed on the front of the Town Hall. In his thanks to the Vice Llord-Lieutenant the Mayor said that the response to the pandemic in Hunstanton had all been down to people. So many had needed to change and adapt their way of working which had required a lot of extra time and hard work. Organisations and individuals had taken it upon themselves to care and provide for those in need of help. There had been a general outpouring of good-neighbourliness.

As we move towards a new year the Mayor finished by emphasising the words on the plaque "Live your best & act your best & think your best today" and also the words of Smithdon High School's motto "Work hard, be kind and smile" and suggested if we all tried to live up to these then our community would be all the stronger to face any new challenges together.
