Serving the people of Hunstanton

VJ Day Remembrance

VJ Day Remembrance

Alongside Hunstanton Branch of the Royal British Legion, the Mayor of Hunstanton Cllr Tony Bishopp silently paid his respects on behalf of Hunstanton Town Council, at the War Memorial Esplanade Gardens this morning to the many thousands of Armed Forces personnel who fought in the Far East and the Pacific.

Following the event Cllr Bishopp stated "VJ Day recognises both the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War. The fierce conflict and those who served and paid a heavy price should never be forgotten"

Cllr Tony Bishopp would like to thank Hunstanton RBL for organising the small event (unfortunately, original plans for a weekend of entertainment being organised between HTC and Hunstanton RBL were cancelled due to the Covid situation) and also to Hunstanton resident Maria Rix for her continued support (with many HTC events) by kindly donating the fresh flower wreath.
