Deputy Mayor Cllr Adrian Eden
Born in London, but grew up in Hertfordshire, where I developed my love of the countryside, and trees.
My first career, in the Performing Arts (music), eventually led me into musical instrument retail, and to establishing one of Europe's largest instrument retailers. Always an innovator, one programme we set up provided people with autistic spectrum disorders with access to musical instruments and to learning to make music in a safe and friendly environment.
From 2000 and onwards I had a change of focus and delivered some projects in the voluntary sector for the National Trust and Southwark Cathedral's Millennium Exhibition.
I also took some personal development time and studied courses in personal, business, and health coaching.
Later using these skills in management positions across the London Boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest, I was employed as a Registrar for the Boroughs, including acting as the primary Citizenship Facilitator, and undertook Funeral Celebrancy qualifications.
I also worked as a Voluntary Youth Leader for over 15 years
Since settling in Hunstanton I have been actively participating in community life in the Hunstanton Society, local U3A, and have worked as a volunteer for the West Norfolk Deaf Association.
I was encouraged to join the Council in 2021 and have contributed to the work of various committees. I am also one of the Town Council Representatives on the Northfields Allotment Committee.
I am very proud of all our work as a Town Council, but especially of the development of the weekly Helping Hands Hub project.
This provides a welcoming space for vulnerable people in our community, offering access to statutory and voluntary sector resources, and hosts the Costal Community Supermarket.
I have been visiting Norfolk since the early 1990s for holidays with my children, (who are now parents themselves), although it wasn't until 2019 that I finally made Hunstanton my permanent home.
Having considered myself semi-retired, we then decided to open a Bookshop in the High Street, which certainly keeps me occupied !
My interests still include playing music, enjoying the scenic walks of West Norfolk, and I'm fast becoming a "Twitcher" !
I look forward to the coming years, continuing to serve the town, and having fun in the process.
