Town Clerk of almost 13 years says Goodbye

After 13 years of dedicated service to Hunstanton Town Council the Clerk Lisa Powell has decided to relocate to her home county of Derbyshire.
It is with great sadness that I am saying goodbye to Hunstanton after nearly thirteen years as Town Clerk. I began my career here as a nervous Deputy Clerk but after three months was promoted to Town Clerk. I have seen several councillors come and go and have had great pleasure in working with them all. Not always agreeing with decisions made but always respecting the work put in by them. The saddest occasion for me was the unexpected passing of Richard Searle, I had a great admiration for him and his work ethic. The one councillor that I have had a challenging relationship with is Cllr Richard Bird, many a disagreements yet many fun times. I also had the honour of acting as Consort to two Mayor's, once to Peter Mallam and once to Cllr Geoffrey Smith, a truly gentle and kind man.
My doggies have stipulated that they want a large garden in the new house with fruit trees and plenty of bushes. I haven't told them yet that they will not be visiting Father Christmas at the Princess Theatre like they usually do, I think there will be a few growls over that.
The reason I have decided to leave is due to the stroke I had in February. It has made me re-evaluate my life and make me take the decision that I would like to return to my roots of Derbyshire and be near my sister. I know that I am leaving the council in capable hands, Jan Roomes the Deputy Clerk will step up to be Clerk ably accompanied by the Facilities Manager Angela Green.
I would like to thank everybody for their support over the years and I will look forward to seeing you all when the doggies and I return for holidays.
Members agreed at a meeting held Friday 1st September 2017 in Hunstanton Council Chamber, Under the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960, to accept Lisa's decision to end her employment from 30th September and to appoint the Deputy Clerk Jan Roomes as the new Town Clerk from 1st October 2017.
Hunstanton Town Council will not be employing a Deputy Clerk for the foreseeable future.
